Election Day is on Nov. 8, 2022, Tuesday.
“We want voters to come in before the deadline, and when they do come in, they need to come in with a valid U.S. passport or birth certificate,” Igitol said.
She also encourages voters to inform CEC if there are some changes to their personal information.
“Such as if the individuals have moved, or have changed their last names…or those with an error in their birthdate — just come in and update your voter registration,” Igitol said.
She added that every year there is a slight increase in the number of registered voters.
“It will increase because a lot of individuals are now 18 years old and it’s their first time to register,” she said.
As of July 15, Igitol said, there were 18,487 registered voters in the CNMI.
This number included eight from Rota, and three from Tinian, who registered recently, she added.
The last day to submit nominating petitions and candidacy documents is Aug. 10, 2022.
Early voting for Saipan, Tinian, and Rota will begin on Nov. 1 and end on Nov. 7, 2022.
Independent gubernatorial candidate Lt. Gov. Arnold I. Palacios and his running mate, Saipan Mayor David M. Apatang, will submit their petitions and candidacy documents on July 22, 2022, at 9 a.m.
Democratic gubernatorial candidate Rep. Tina Sablan and running mate Leila Staffler will submit their petitions on Aug. 5 at 9 a.m.
Republican Gov. Ralph DLG Torres and running mate Senate Floor Leader Vinnie F. Sablan will submit their petitions on Aug. 9 at 10 a.m.
This year, Commonwealth voters will also elect one U.S. congressional delegate, an attorney general, 20 CNMI House members, six senators, four mayors, nine municipal council members and one Board of Education member.
Voters will also decide whether or not to retain Justice John A. Manglona, Judge Joseph N. Camacho and Judge Wesley Bogdan.
