1 of 2 escapees back in detention

ONE of two juvenile detainees who escaped on Tuesday night is now back at the Kagman Juvenile Detention Center.

Department of Public Safety spokesman Pete C. Muna said a family member surrendered one of the escapees to the detention center yesterday afternoon.

Muna said the second escapee was still at large as of late yesterday afternoon.

He said the police were still looking for the other escapee.

“If anybody knows this individual who escaped from the detention center, give us a call so we can do something about it,” Muna said, as he reminded the public that people who help an escapee are liable for charges of harboring a criminal.

According to the report, guard Hainrick J. Ogumoro escorted four detainees to the library at the detention center on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

After an hour, the two escapees, who are 16 and 17 years old, asked Ogumoro to allow them go outside so they could spray paint their artwork.

Once outside, one of the escapees requested to use red spray paint. As the guard turned around to get the paint, he noticed that the individuals were already missing.

One of two escapees was charged in connection with the recent poker robbery, police said.
