And the number of burglaries is still increasing.
According to Detective Joaquin Deleon Guerrero of the Central Investigation Division, the recent burglaries and robberies appear to have been committed by different individuals.
“Unlike the 13 burglary incidents last month that left the trail of being committed by the same persons, there is no pattern in the reported incidents this month,” Deleon Guerrero said during a press conference yesterday.
He urged members of the community to always secure their homes and properties.
“Most of the victims of burglaries live in residential houses, and the incidents usually occur after lunch time and in the afternoon when the occupants are out,” Deleon Guerrero said.
Operations Commander Sgt. Sylvan M. Rangamar said stolen items that police have recovered will be returned to their owners.
“When we recover stolen items, we contact the owners and we require proof of ownership or some other identification to determine if they are the real owners,” Rangamar said.
He added that most of the over $5,000 worth of recovered items from the arrest of the three suspects — Sheldon U. Remoket, Roland S. Delos Reyes, and Ken Pangelinan — have been returned to their owners.
He said they have recovered some of the stolen items from pawnshops and from the “boonies” where they were dumped by the perpetrators.
Rangamar said most of the stolen items are electronic products, television sets, I-Pod systems, air-conditioning units, and other commodities than can easily be sold on the streets.
The three suspects, police said, were involved in 13 burglary incidents that occurred on Capital Hill, As Gonno, Kagman, Papago and San Vicente last month. They have been charged with burglary and theft.
