Guerrero met with Gov. Benigno R. Fitial who accompanied ruling Covenant Party candidate Joseph N. Camacho in filing his delegate candidacy at the commission office.
Guerrero said the governor assured him of the funding needed by the commission.
Although $100,000 is $28,000 less than what the commission asked for, it will make sure that the election will happen, Guerrero added.
Senate Vice President Jude U. Hofschneider, R-Tinian, in an interview said he was happy to hear that the governor would finally act on the commission’s funding request.
He said it’s important for the entire election process, including the public education for the proposed initiatives, to move ahead.
Hofschneider said the election cannot be postponed despite funding problems.
