
SUPERIOR Court Associate Judge Kenneth L. Govendo has sentenced 11 individuals to jail time for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Starlin Kumaichi, who pled guilty to a fourth DUI charge, was sentenced to a year in jail, but all suspended except 90 days. Kumaichi was given credit for 24 hours of time served and was ordered to report to the Department of Corrections on Sept. 1 at 5 p.m. He will be released on Nov. 29 at 5 p.m.
Judge Govendo ordered Kumaichi to pay a fine of $1,000 and suspended his driver’s license for six months. Kumaichi will also be placed on two years’ probation after serving his jail sentence and will perform 120 hours of community service. In addition, he will pay a court and probation fee of $265.
Abigail Ruben, who was convicted of her first DUI, will serve three days in jail and was given 12 hours’ credit for time served. She was ordered to report to Corrections on Sept. 6 at 6.p.m., and will be released on Sept. 9 at 6 a.m. She will pay a fine of $500, and her driver’s license will be suspended for 30 days. Ruben will also be placed on one-year probation and will perform 40 hours of community service. She will pay a court and probation fee of $145.
Dean Anthony Borja, convicted of his second DUI, was sentenced to 30 days in jail and given 24 hours’ credit for time served. He was ordered to report to Corrections on Sept. 9 at 8 a.m. and will be released on Oct. 19 at 8 a.m. Borja will also pay a $1,000 fine and his driver’s license will be suspended for six months. He will be placed on two years’ probation and will perform 60 hours of community service. In addition, Borja was ordered to pay a court and probation fee of $265.
Ronnie Sofla will serve four days in jail for his first DUI conviction. He was given 12 hours’ credit for time already served. Sofla was ordered to report to Corrections on Aug. 31 at 6 p.m. and he will be released on Sept. 4 at 6 a.m. He was ordered to pay a $500 fine, and his driver’s license will be suspended for 30 days. Sofla will be placed on one-year probation and will perform 40 hours of community service. He will a pay probation and court fee of $145.
Judge Govendo ordered Henry Bao Yu to serve 10 days in jail for his first DUI conviction. He was given 24 hours’ credit for time already served. Yu was ordered to report to Corrections on Aug. 19 and he will be released on Aug. 27 at 8 a.m.
The court ordered him to pay a fine of $2,500, and his driver’s license will be suspended for 30 days. Yu will not be placed on probation, but he will pay a court fee of $25.
Gyles Reluked pled guilty to his second DUI. The court ordered him to serve 60 days in jail, but he was also given 60 days’ credit for time already served. He will pay a fine of $500, and his driver’s license will suspended for 30 days. He will be placed on one-year probation and perform 40 hours of community service. Reluked was also ordered to pay a $120 probation fee.
Judge Govendo sentenced Emmanuel S. Magia to three days in jail for his first DUI conviction. He was given 24 hours’ credit for time already served. Magia was ordered to report to Corrections on Aug. 14 at 7 p.m. and was released on Aug. 16 at 7 a.m. He was ordered to pay a $500 fine, and his driver’s license was suspended for 30 days. Magia was placed on six months’ probation and will perform 40 hours of community service. He will pay a court and probation fee of $85.
Alfonso Ramon pled guilty to his second DUI. Judge Govendo sentenced him to 40 days in jail with 24 hours’ credit for time already served. He was ordered to report to Corrections on Aug. 23 at 6 p.m. and will be released on Oct. 1 at 6 a.m.
Ramon will pay a fine of $1,000 and his driver’s license will be revoked for a year. He will be placed on two years’ probation, and will perform 200 hours of community service. Ramon was likewise ordered to pay a $240 probation fee.
Archie Abugan served three days in jail for his first DUI conviction. He was given 24 hours’ credit for time already served. He reported to Corrections on July 30, and was released on Aug. 1.
Abugan was ordered to pay a fine of $500 and his driver’s license was suspended for 30 days. He was not placed on probation or ordered to perform community work service, but he will pay a $25 court fee.
Judge Govendo sentenced Michael Aguon to 30 days in jail for his third DUI conviction. He was given 24 hours’ credit for time already served. Aguon was ordered to report to Corrections on Sept. 2 at 6 p.m. and he will be released on Oct. 1 at 6 a.m.
Aguon will pay a fine of $1,000 and his driver’s license will be suspended for six months. He will be placed on two years’ probation and will perform 80 hours of community service. He will pay a probation fee of $240.
Vincent Constantino was sentenced to three days in jail for his first DUI conviction. He was given 12 hours’ credit for time already served. He reported to Corrections on Aug. 9 and was released on Aug. 12. He was ordered to pay a fine of $500 and his driver’s license was revoked for six months. Constantino was placed on one year probation and will perform 40 hours of community service. He will pay a $120 probation fee.
