13 teams to join Marianas March Against Cancer

“The teams are all ready for what promises to be an exciting and memorable event that will raise funds for the battle against cancer,” MMAC information officer Christopher Concepcion said.         

He said  the teams will be vying for awards including the Most Money Raised, Best Baton, Best Decorated Tent, Most Spirit, Most Laps and Most Luminaries Sold.

The team who will be joining under the Napu/schools category is the Team Grace Christian Academy.

Under the government/non-profit organizations are Team Marriage Encouner, Team Hinemlo/Department of Public Health and Team Transportation Security Administration.

Joining the Pulan/Family category are the Team Bodig and Team Ahu. The contestants under the Pution/Corporate category are Team Pacific Islands Club, Team IT&E/Saipan Southern High School, Team Marianas Health Services/GTC Elementary School, Team Take Care/FHP, Team Bank of Guam/Garapan Elementary School, Team Tan Holdings and Team Bank of Hawaii.

 “We are reminding the public to be there and help support this great cause for our cancer survivors and victims,” Concepcion said.

The MMAC committee is aiming to equal, if not surpass, last year’s $71,000 proceeds.

The organizers of the 2009 MMAC are optimistic that the support of the community for its cancer survivors and victims will not wane.

Title sponsors for the MMAC are Bank of Guam, IT&E, Delta/Northwest Airlines, Take-Care/FHP, Sorensen Media Group, DFS and Joeten Charitable Foundation.
