2 arrested for stealing calf

Francisco Aldan, 25 and Joey Aldan, 27, were arrested on May 5 for theft charges.

The Aldans were brought to Superior Court yesterday afternoon and appeared before Associate Judge Kenneth Govendo for a bail hearing.

Govendo set a cash bail of $1,000 for each of them.

They were remanded to the custody of the Department of Corrections after the hearing.

The affidavit of Detective Nicholas C. Leon Guerrero submitted to the court stated that the theft incident was reported to the police on April 5.

Stolen was the calf that was last seen by the owner tied in an open grassy area by his residence on May 4 at 5:30 p.m.

The following day, the one-year-old calf was already missing.

The affidavit stated that a relative of the two defendants saw them in Kagman on April 5 at 10:48 p.m. operating a vehicle that was pulling a calf.

The affidavit stated that the witness saw Francisco Aldan driving the blue Toyota pick-up with Joey Aldan sitting on the passenger’s side.

According to the affidavit, the juvenile was sitting behind the truck and was pulling a rope tied to the calf’s nostrils.

The witness described the animal as the “brown male calf with tiger stripes on its sides” that belonged to June Somorang.

The preliminary hearing for the defendants was set for May 14 while the arraignment will be held on May 19.
