2 arrested in As Lito on ‘ice’ charges

Li Ping Zhou and Tang Yue Xin, both 39, were required by Superior Court Associate Judge David A. Wiseman to each post $3,000 cash as 10 percent of their $30,000 bail, and the remainder $27,000 as unsecured or appearance bond.

Detective Roque Camacho said a cooperating source informed the Department of Public Safety that Zhou was “hiding something” under the kitchen sink in their As Lito barracks on Sept. 3, 2010.

Camacho said he went to the barracks and met with the cooperating source.

At the time, Camacho said another woman arrived, later identified as Xin, who was named by the cooperating source as Zhou’s “ice” supplier.

Camacho instructed the cooperating source to take the item that was hidden by Zhou under the sink.

He said a white and pink construction glove yielded two Ziplocks containing what appeared to be “ice.”

On same day, Camacho said he and members of the Drug Enforcement Task Force arrived at Zhou’s residence in As Lito, and conducted a search after getting her consent.

When asked if she had “ice,” Zhou pointed at her green wallet which yielded two Ziplock bags containing “clear crystalline substance,” rolled in a white tissue, Camacho said.

Zhou told police that she was getting “ice” from Xin who also allowed the police to search her house, also in As Lito.

Camacho said Xin escorted police detectives to her room, and pointed to her brown wallet that yielded two Ziplock bags containing “clear crystalline substance.”

The seized substance was later field tested using the Narcotics Identification Kit,  “and it came out presumptive positive for methamphetamine,” Camacho said.
