THE Attorney General’s Office has filed criminal cases against two men for alleged sexual abuse and child abuse.
Joseph Aguon Villagomez, 31, was charged with three counts of sexual abuse of a child.
Franklin R. Perez, 51, was charged with child abuse, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.
Both defendants were summoned to appear and answer the charges in Superior Court.
According to Assistant Attorney General Barry Hirshbein, Villagomez “did have sexual contact with the child under the age of 16” on Tinian in May 2000 and Oct. 2001.
Perez, for his part, committed the child abuse, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace against the victim between Nov. 2000 through Nov. 2001 on Saipan, Hirshbein alleged.
The prosecutor further alleged that Perez “did engage in a course of conduct, pattern and practice of willfully and intentionally striking or inflicting physical pain, injury or mental distress upon a child under the age of 18.”
No other details were given in court documents.
