20 to join Trunk or Treat at the park

“I am very happy with the early confirmation of participants, but we would like more participants to sign up,” U.S. Park Ranger Nancy Kelchner told the Variety.

She said she is expecting a bigger turnout and a more memorable Trunk or Treat event this year.

Kelchner said the confirmed participants included members of the Rotary Club of Saipan and Marianas Variety personnel.

There will be a parade of costumes, and a prize for the best decorated car trunk.

“Come in your spookiest attire to add to the Halloween mood, and participate in the costume parade right after dark,” she said.

They will be showing family-oriented movies throughout the event.

Last year, about 850 children showed up and went home with buckets of candies and other treats from the participating car owners in the parking lot of American Memorial Park.

“We are inviting more participants to come out, sign up and help us make this event more memorable not only for the kids but for everybody,” Kelchner said.

“We need this diversion especially in these economically challenging times,” she added.
