This, according to the nutrition program office, is pursuant to the Continuing Extension Act of 2010, or U.S. Public Law 111-157.
The WIC office said current guidelines have been extended but they will advise nutrition program participants of any updates and announcements regarding the 2010-11 Poverty Income Guidelines.
The WIC income eligibility guidelines in the CNMI, Guam, the 48 contiguous states and US territories are published at the nutrition program’s Web site http://www.cnmiwic.org/wic-income-eligibility-guidelines-2009-2010.php.
The actions of the US Congress regarding the 2009 Poverty Guidelines came following a decrease in the annual average Consumer Price Index for 2009.
A consumer price index is an estimate of the average price of consumer goods and services purchased by households, and price change for a constant market basket of goods and services in a particular area from one period to another.
