29th Flame Tree Arts Festival set for April 23-25

It was set earlier for April 29 to May 2 but was moved back to give vendors and participants time to prepare for the Taste of the Marianas in May.

Parker Yobei of the Commonwealth Arts Council office said a total of 65 vendors for food, arts and crafts have already registered but more are still calling to join.

“We are getting several calls from artists, even those who are off island showing their interest to join. The deadline for registration is April 15,” Yobei said yesterday.

Only 20 slots were allotted for food vendors and these are already filled up.

The rest of the booth slots will be for arts and crafts, government and non-government agencies and others.

Yobei said  Kosrae and Guam have already confirmed their participation.

“We don’t have the exact numbers of how many are coming yet, but they will be here,” he added.

They are still waiting for the confirmation from  Palau, Yap, Pohnpei, Chuuk and other Micronesian islands.

The theme of this year’s event is “Weaving Culture and Arts for Socio and Economic Opportunities.”

Yobei said the committee is working on finalizing the programs for the three-day event but he assured that it will be a colorful and entertainment-packed weekend for everyone.

“We are once again asking the community to support us and be with us in celebrating the 29th Annual Flame Tree Arts Festival, partake of the delicious food prepared by the participating restaurants, and delight in the arts and crafts from all over Micronesia,” he said.
