THE three former nursing students of Eucon International College who transferred to Northern Marianas College have been given student visas, authorities said.
Immigration Director Antonio Sablan said the Chinese students were given visas because they transferred to NMC.
“They complained and transferred to NMC so they were given visas,” Sablan said.
Six other Chinese nursing students who remain with Eucon have not been issued student visas.
In an interview Monday, the students said their passports were confiscated by immigration officers upon their arrival here last August.
The passports have not been returned to them.
According to Eucon President Christian Wei, Immigration told him that “the students are here but they are not here.”
Sablan said their action on the students’ status would depend on the decision of the State Board of Regents which recently revoked the provisional license of Eucon.
The cancellation of the license was made upon the recommendation of a panel that evaluated Eucon following complaints from the three nursing students.
The three former Eucon students said the college lacked necessary facilities for its nursing program.
Wei maintained that the license revocation was illegal and unfair.
Eucon resubmitted a license application to the regents early this month.
The former Eucon students who were given two-year student visas are Feng Huan, Quian Hingi and Ye Hiaowen.
