SSHS principal Craig Garrison said four employees did not receive their renewal notices.
“We cannot yet say whether the four employees will or will not be renewed, but they will be under review during the 90-day period,” Garrison said.
He said the notices of renewal lifted the spirits of the teachers and staff, particularly “those who didn’t understand what the notices were for.”
“The 90-day notice was not a cause for panic especially for those teachers and staff who bothered to drop by my office and asked for clarification,” Garrison said.
Education Commissioner Rita Sablan said she met with the SSHS teachers and staff yesterday afternoon to clarify the 90-day notices.
She said public school teachers and staff have nothing to worry about.
“The Public School System is not issuing any 90-day notices to teachers or staff because of financial constraints and budgetary issues,” she added.
On Monday, the first day of Teacher Appreciation Week, SSHS teachers and staff did not feel “appreciated” after Garrison issued the “pink slips.”
