670 Pit Bull Club welcomes more members

670 Pit Bull/Bully Club president Vinnie Sablan said  their group was organized last July so that owners can interact with each other and erase the “negative reputation” of pit bulls.

“We would like to spread awareness to the community not to judge the pit bulls by their faces because in reality, they are one of the most lovable and obedient dogs around,” Sablan said.

He said the club is all about responsible dog ownership and for owners to share ideas on how to care for the dogs and keep them secured.

Sablan said most of the pit bulls are registered with the United Kennel Club and are temperament-tested.

The club meets regularly once a month. Members are planning to hold a dog show next year, get involved in community projects, and create fundraising activities for charitable groups and purposes.

The 670 Pit Bull/Bully Club started with eight members.

Sablan said individuals who don’t own pit bulls or other dogs can join the group.

The other club officers are Peter Sablan, vice president; Edong “Dragon” Elenzado, secretary; Carol Ermitanio Fleming, treasurer; Ed Guinto, club adviser; and Norman del Rosario, marketing and media representative.
