$6M in stimulus checks still pending

“We still have about $6 million more that is estimated to be dispersed. We are releasing stimulus checks on a weekly basis, every Friday… Checks are printed on Friday afternoon and in the mail by Saturday morning,” he said during a press briefing on KKMP radio.

He added that members of the general public who have yet to receive their stimulus check may have errors on their tax returns that are preventing the issuance of the checks.

“Believe it or not, we are still getting a high volume of calls at [the Division of Revenue and Taxation], so please be patient with us,” he added.

Secretary Atalig also encourages taxpayers to visit the division office in the Joeten Dandan building should the call lines be congested. The office is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.

“Please…inquire about your tax return if you still have not received your check,” he said.

When asked if there will be a second round of economic impact payments, or stimulus checks, the Finance secretary said, “That is all up to the U.S. government. Congress and the President should sign a new bill. We understand that the [Health and Economic Recovery Omnibus Emergency Solutions Act, or] HEROES Act was passed by the U.S. [House of Representatives] and it’s in the Senate. Until we hear anything further, we’re not planning on any second stimulus.”
