“It was reported to the Board of Education that 71 percent of PSS teachers are highly qualified,” she added.
PSS allocates $2 million annually for its highly qualified teacher program.
A highly qualified teacher has a four-year degree, is certified, and has passed the Praxis I and II examinations.
PSS wants all its teachers to be Praxis-certified by Aug. 2011 to comply with a federal mandate.
