9 delegate hopefuls get their numbers on ballot

Four of the nine  were not able to personally pick their ballot numbers — Saipan and Northern Islands Municipal Council member Felipe Atalig, Ind.; Sen. Luis Crisostimo, Ind.; Public Lands mining division chief and TV talk show host John Oliver Gonzales, Ind., and; teacher John Davis, Ind.

Julie Villagomez, the acting executive director of the Commonwealth Election Commission, picked the numbers for Gonzales and Atalig, who will be no. 9.

Davis got number 7 while Cristostimo is number 6.

Their representatives picked their numbers.

Businessman Chong Won will be number 2 on the ballot; former Tinian Sen. David Cing, number 3; retired Judge Juan T. Lizama, number 4; on-leave Election Commission Executive Director Gregorio C.  Sablan, number 8; and Washington Rep. Pete A. Tenorio, number 5.

Frances M. Sablan, the commission chairwoman, issued a resolution certifying that all nine candidates for the historic Nov. 4 U.S. congressional election have met the requirements for the elected position they are vying for.

She ordered their names to be placed on the official delegate election ballot that will be printed soon.

The commission will continue to register voters until Sept. 15.

So far, more than 12,000 voters have already registered.
