The visit by commission representatives will happen after NMC submits its midterm report on Oct. 15 this year, Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges President Barbara A. Beno said.
She said all colleges are required to file a midterm report in the third year after each comprehensive evaluation.
The midterm report should indicate resolution of any team recommendations made for improvements, including a summary of progress of college-identified plans for improvement, she added.
The college will include in the report forecast where it expects to be by the time of the next comprehensive evaluation, she added.
NMC President Carmen Fernandez announced the reaffirmation of the college’s accreditation during the Liberation Day celebration on Saturday.
From June 9 to 11 the commission had meetings to review the report submitted by NMC, the report of the evaluation team that visited the college in April, and the information presented by college representatives.
During that meeting, Beno said “the commission took action to accept the report…and reaffirm accreditation.”
Beno told Fernandez that the commission is requiring the college to give the report and her letter for appropriate dissemination to the college staff and to those who were signatories of the college report.
This group should include the campus leadership and the board of regent.
The commission requires that all reports be made available to students and the public, and copies placed in the college library.
“On behalf of the commission, I wish to express continuing interest in the institution’s educational quality and student’s success. Professional self-regulation is the most effective means of assuring institutional integrity, effectiveness and quality,” Beno said.
