By noon time yesterday, Buckingham reinstated Ernest.
Asked for comment, Ernest referred this reporter to Buckingham.
Ernest attended court hearings in the afternoon.
In a separate interview, Buckingham said, “Mr. Ernest is still with the Office of the Attorney General. He is still the chief prosecutor.”
He neither confirmed nor denied the firing and re-hiring of Ernest as well as the threat to resign of the other prosecutors.
Variety also learned that civil division Assistant Attorneys General James Taylor and Craig Dittrich are no longer with the AGO.
Sources said they have either resigned or did not renew their contracts. Government lawyers wanted a pay raise, Variety was told.
