The 2018 Taulumwaar Sensible CNMI Cannabis Act or Public Law 20-66, as amended by Public Law 21-5, allows for the recreational, commercial, and medicinal use of cannabis.
Manibusan said the regulations drafted by the cannabis commission are still being reviewed by his office for legal sufficiency.
“We hope to meet with them [the commissioners] to really iron out the issues.”
The AG said these include: “How do we go about measuring tetrahydrocannabinol or THC? Do we have adequate facility for that? What kind of medical technologies are out there to measure THC?”
THC is the chemical responsible for most of the psychological effects of marijuana.
The commission is chaired by Nadine Deleon Guerrero and its members include Matt Deleon Guerrero representing Saipan, Journie Hofschneider representing Tinian, Thomas Songsong representing Rota, and Valentino Taisacan representing the Northern Islands.
