He said more private entities and even government institution are asking for an appointment with his office to distribute gifts to the senior citizens.
“Those institutions that don’t usually give to the manamko’ have also started sharing their bounties this year,” Macaranas said, referring to Laolao Golf and Resort which recently provided the elderly with food and refreshment.
Macaranas said private institutions know impression “that we are transparent” and their gifts go directly to the senior citizens.
Last Friday, the Carolinian Cultural Club of Northern Marianas College visited the Aging Office to sing Christmas carols.
Walter Manglona, the center’s program coordinator, said the NMC students frequently visit the manamko’ to offer songs and other presentation even if there’s no special occasion.
“We are very happy with these students,” Manglona said.
The cultural club members at the same time thanked the Tasi Tours management for donating the bus that they regularly use when visiting the elderly.
After the club’s presentation, the Taga Riders arrived on their big motorcycles to give their gifts to the manamko’.
Bill Camacho, the riders’ president said it is their annual tradition to share the blessings they have received to the manamko’.
The 30-member club brought assorted goods and gift certificates which were handed to the manamko’.
The riders officers besides Camacho are Edward Flores, vice president; Joey Ejercito, secretary; Jess Santos, treasurer; and Jun Somorang, road captain.
Among the members are Marie Sapong, Vince Lizama, Peter Togawa, Ruben Corpuz, Standley Santos, Ben Sablan, Ed Tudor, Cel Damian, Dave Meyers, Jess Quiblat and Tony Yen.
