Another source said the current prosecutors at the AGO are “serious and dedicated” and “would like to focus on [their] job of implementing the law and in ensuring justice.”
But there is too much “politics” at the AGO, Variety was told.
It’s also “difficult” to work for Buckingham, sources said. They did not elaborate.
Since Gov. Benigno R. Fitial nominated Attorney General Edward Buckingham in Sept. 2009, seven prosecutors have already left the AG’s Office.
They are Joe Taijeron and Gregory Baka, former deputy attorneys general; Kevin Lynch, former chief prosecutor; George Hasselback, former acting chief prosecutor; Kathleen Busenkell, former immigration prosecutor; Matthew Meyer, former prosecutor; and Joseph Przyuski, former special prosecutor for the white collar crime task force.
There are four prosecutors left: Brian Gallagher, Michael Evangelista, William Downer, and Jennifer Dockter.
Buckingham and Chief Prosecutor Rosemond B. Santos have yet to reply to the inquiries of this reporter.
They earlier referred this reporter to the governor’s office which also has yet to respond.
Santos, a former Republican lawmaker who endorsed the governor in the runoff, was named chief prosecutor early this year.
