Since last week, the H1N1 vaccination team started administering flu shot to children at the Head Start centers.
On Monday, the team continued to give vaccines to Head Start children in Garapan and Tanapag with the assistance of nursing students and those taking review classes for the NCLEX examination.
Brostrom said they were expecting to finish yesterday the Head Start centers and would then attend to the children of day care centers.
He said they administered 200 doses last week at the Head Start centers and were expecting to administer another 200 doses yesterday.
“The parents are quite cooperating and they really completed the permission slip,” he said.
Those without the consent form from their parents are not given the vaccine shot.
By next week, Brostrom said the team will start administering vaccine shots to elementary school students.
He reminded students to bring the consent form signed by their parents.
He said Public Health expects to receive more vaccines this or next week to allow them to complete the vaccination program for schools.
According to Brostrom, they currently have more than 9,000 doses.
He said they are projecting to receive more than 50,000 doses which will be more than enough for Saipan, Tinian and Rota.
After the public schools, he said, they will distribute the vaccines to the private sector.
“I know the community wants this vaccine and we want to give it to them as quickly as possible,” he said.
