All set for dog tagging on Monday

These are the CNMI Treasury office on Capital Hill, Rev and Tax at the Joeten Dandan building, and Guma Hustisia in Susupe.

They will be open Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. except for the Treasury which will be closed at 4 p.m. and on austerity Friday.

Dog control program director Ray Lizama said the payment should be made before pet owners proceed to the dog tagging site.

On Monday, the dog tagging will start from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Carollinian Utt Pavilion in Garapan.

Lizama said those who have a spay/neuter certificate from a licensed veterinarian will be allowed to pay a discounted rate.

“We’ve been getting good comments about the program,” he added.

To avoid delays in the registration, pet owners should provide the complete requirements, including receipt of payment, local identification card, name of the dog, sex, color and its breed.

Registration will be on a first come, first-served basis.

Lizama said they want to expedite the process so more pets can be accommodated.

Trained dog handlers from the mayor’s office will put a muzzle on the dog during the registration process to ensure safety.

The following is the fee schedule:

For all unaltered dogs, the one year license will cost $10; two years, $18; three years, $26; four years, $34; and five years, $42.

For altered dogs, the one-year license is $6; two years, $10; three years, $14; four years, $18; and five years, $24.

Senior citizens,  or those who are 55 years old and above, who want to register their spayed/neutered dogs will pay $5 for a one-year license, $8 for two years, $10 for three years, $12 for four years and $15 for five years.

There will be no charge for the service dogs of persons with disabilities.

“All dog owners must properly secure their dogs on a leash at all times when in a public place,” Lizama said.
