The GOP election officials will be composed of the party presidents on the three islands, representatives from both camps and a party board member.

Tenorio said the primary will be conducted from  7 a.m. to 6 p.m. in each municipality, and the ballots will be counted on each island.

This will be a lot easier than transporting all the ballots to Saipan, he added.

For the convenience of  voters, he said ballots will be cast at the polling centers used during general elections.

The polling place will be the cafeteria of Tinian Elementary School on Tinian, and Northern Marianas College on Rota.

In Saipan’s Precinct 1, the polling centers are at San Antonio, San Vicente and Koblerville elementary schools; Precinct 2, the municipal council office; Precinct 3, Garapan Elementary School; Precinct 4, Gregorio T. Camacho Elementary School; and Precinct 5, the Kagman Community Center.

The two candidates seeking the GOP gubernatorial nomination are former Gov. Juan N. Babauta and Rep. Heinz S. Hofschneider.

Babauta’s running mate is Board of Education member Galvin S. Deleon Guerrero while Hofschneider has teamed up with Speaker Arnold I. Palacios.
