All set for Queen Marianas 2011 pageant

Event publicity and public relations officer Mike Manglona said tickets will still be available at the door — the price is $25 and includes a buffet dinner.

“We are inviting the community to come and enjoy a night of entertainment and support our troops who are serving our nation,” Manglona said.

Only seven contestants will be vying for the top places after one dropped out from the contest. The contestants will be competing for the 2011 Queen Marianas crown, first and second runner up, and for other awards including Miss Photogenic, Miss Congeniality, Best in Fantasy Costume, Best in Lingerie and Best in Evening Gown.

2011 Queen Marianas Gay Pageant Miss Talent Tammy Torres, whose rendition of Barbara Streisand’s “The Main Event,” won him the Best in Talent Award at the Hard Rock Café last May 25, will be performing.

Manglona said part of the proceeds from the show, which is dubbed “Operation Fabulous,” will go to support CNMI Operation Homefront.

“Through the show, we want to show our support to our troops through this non-profit program that sends gift packages to local U.S. soldiers serving abroad,” Manglona said.

The 2011 Queen Marianas Gay Pageant is produced by A Gela and Friends Production.

Sponsors for the event are Island Florals & Gifts, Hard Rock Café, Fiesta Resort & Spa and Power 99 FM. For more information or tickets, call Shawna at 789-8853 or Mike at 989-9333.
