“The turn out is outstanding, much better than we expected and we are positive we have surpassed our net target of $15,000 for this year’s projects,” said Salas, who is also a member of the House of Representatives.
He said that they had to reprint a thousand more tickets in addition to the 7,000 tickets they printed earlier.
“We sold 3,000 tickets at the entrance, and we are happy for the participation of the community,” Salas said.
Rotary Club president Ben Babauta told the Variety that although they are yet to come up with the final figures sometime this week, he is happy with the outcome of the event.
“Compared to the previous years, we have more people who came in and played in the games this year,” Babauta said.
“As we’ve said earlier, the proceeds from the Las Vegas Night will go to four projects — the health care project, the Saipan skateboard park project, the Kagman Community Park children’s playground and the Parade of Books,” Babauta said.
He added that all the projects are geared to make dreams real for the community children.
Players took their chances in games of chance — black jack, roulette, craps, Texas hold ‘em poker, and kina, which was offered for the first time on Las Vegas Night.
Winners won door prizes like hotel accommodations, restaurant coupons and other prizes during the raffle draws.
This year’s Las Vegas Night grand prize winner was ticket no. 2577 holder Juliet Reyes who will have a choice between a car or $10,000 cash.
First prize winner of $3,000 was the holder of ticket no. 2003.
Second prize of $2,000 went to Rigador C. Reyes, while the third prize of $1,000 went to Rosana Ortiz.
