The 35th conference of the annual Association of Pacific Islands Public Auditors or APIPA was held in the Republic of Palau from Aug. 26 to 30 with the theme, “Bridging the Gap of Public Accountability and Transparency.” The participants were audit and finance organizations from Palau, the Marshall Islands, Pohnpei, Kosrae, Chuuk, Yap, the Federated States of Micronesia national government, Guam, American Samoa, Samoa, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the CNMI. The participating CNMI audit and finance organizations were the Office of the Public Auditor, the Marianas Visitors Authority, the Northern Marianas Housing Corporation, the Commonwealth Ports Authority, the Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation, the Northern Marianas Technical Institute, Northern Marianas College and the Public School System. Next year’s APIPA conference is scheduled to take place in the CNMI with approximately 500 audit and finance professionals from 13 Pacific Island jurisdictions expected to attend.
