“Jazz is a beloved American art form that has contributed widely to cultural unity and understanding globally,” his proclamation stated.
Each year,the U.S. Conference of Mayors, of which Tudela is a member, joins the celebration of jazz.
According to the proclamation, jazz “has spoken eloquently of freedom for people in the United States and in CNMI. And it become an international language that bridges differences and brings people of all races, ages and backgrounds together.”
“Art education and an appreciation for the contribution of all American art forms is fundamental to the people of Saipan,” the proclamation added.
Jazz is “an original American art form that affirms the noblest aspirations of an individual’s character, discipline, perseverance and innovation, and has produced some of America’s leading creative artists and ranks as one of the America’s greatest exports to the world,” the proclamation stated.
Tudela invited the community to join the nationwide celebration of Jazz Appreciation Month.
