This significant achievement will be beneficial in promoting the growth of tourism between the islands, a media release from Star Marianas stated.
“Having an additional air carrier to provide transportation between the islands will help the existing airlines provide sufficient capacity to allow economic growth of the islands,” said Donna Cabrera, the general manager of Star Marianas Air. “We are very pleased that we will soon be able to provide service to customers during times that are not currently being offered by the existing carriers.”
Star Marianas Air had a blessing ceremony yesterday and intends to announce the commencement of its services sometime in the next few weeks.
“Since certification was accomplished with very little advance notice due to scheduling coordination with the FAA and the consulting company that assisted the certification effort, we still have a lot of work to finish before opening our services to the public,” Cabrera said.
The company plans to initially conduct charter operations between Saipan and Tinian, using Piper Cherokee aircraft.
