Volunteers will split into groups, cleaning the Sugar dock area and south to Laly 4 Beach until 10 a.m. They will take a break for drinks and then continue, if needed.

Water outage in Chalan Tun Herman Pan, lower Dandan

(CUC) — The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. has scheduled a water outage scheduled in Chalan Tun Herman Pan and Lower Dandan affecting customers residing along Chalan Tun Herman Pan, Holiday Dr., Exploring Dr., Sadigani Pl, Bibenda Ln. and Dama Dr. on Saturday, May 23, from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The CUC water division distribution maintenance crew is scheduled to work on the Isley Booster II Sump Tank Reservoir to seal all holes and openings, inspect, clean and disinfect the storage tank.

This required work is necessary to protect treated stored water and provide improved overall water quality for public consumption.

Water service will be restored to affected customers as soon as the work is completed.

Red flag at 7 sites

(DEQ) — The Division of Environmental Quality says water samples collected from Central Repair Shop, DPW Channel Bridge, American Memorial Park, Garapan Fishing Dock, Garapan Beach Drainage, Civic Center Beach and Obyan Beach contained excessive concentrations of fecal indicator bacteria.

DEQ has given these locations a red flag and advises the public not to fish or swim within 300 feet of these locations for the next 48 hours or until otherwise notified.
