This summer, LISS will offer summer classes from first to 11th grades. Subjects to be taught will focus on enhancing the students’ math, science, social studies and English skills.

Limited slots are available and interested parents or guardians should contact the school at 288-2006.

Live fire training releases

(EMO) — The U.S. military will conduct live fire releases on Farallon de Mendenilla, May 6 to 9, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Due to the danger imposed by this activity, Gov. Benigno R. Fitial is advising the general public, especially fishermen, commercial pilots and marine tour operators, to stay away from this area during the time and date indicated.

Beautify CNMI award nominations

THE deadline to submit nominations for the annual Beautify CNMI Steward and Beautify CNMI Champion awards is this Friday, May 8.

The awards are given out to recognize the individuals or groups who have been environmental leaders during the past 12 months.

Oleai PTSA

(OES) — The PTSA of Oleai Elementary School will meet on Tuesday, May 12, 6:15 p.m., in the cafeteria. Everyone is encouraged to attend.

SSHS mid-progress report

(SSHS) — The mid-progress report of Saipan Southern High School students is scheduled to be picked up on Wednesday, May 13, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Teachers will be available in their classrooms to meet with parents or guardians. All students will be released at 1 p.m.

Public Health H1N1 flu advisory

THE Department of Public Health, in a media release yesterday, said it was still at pandemic alert level Phase 5, as declared by the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

There was no confirmed H1N1 flu cases reported in the CNMI.
