It is now one of the most popular events in Japan and a must see if traveling there.
Every year, for the past six years, the Domatsuri group comes to Saipan to join the Liberation Day festiviies. The group is called the Domonnaka dancers.
About six years ago, through the Chamolinan Cultural Village, the group was introduced to the Marianas Visitors Authority, the Saipan Mayor’s Office and the Liberation Day Committee.
The visitors were so impressed with the Carolinian mass dance that they wanted to incorporate it into their performance.
Each year they return with different members from Japan to perform at the Liberation Day parade.
The Saipan Mayor’s Office, MVA, PTC, IT&E, PDI and CCVI have always been accommodating in ensuring that the group’s visit is always a memorable one.
