Around the Islands: Public Meeting for upcoming Amnesty

“This amnesty is a collection of pesticide and related hazardous wastes that require disposal due to age, condition of containers, contamination, no labels unregistered or cancellation,” said Reina Camacho, amnesty project coordinator.  “If you are a farmer or work with pesticides such as golf courses, hotels, and termite and pest control businesses – this is a one time opportunity to properly dispose of you unused, unwanted pesticides and related hazardous wastes.”

Previously, DEQ had advised that hazardous wastes permits will not be required to participate in this amnesty.  Farmers and businesses that have questions are encouraged to attend the meeting to gain additional information about the amnesty.

The amnesty is scheduled for Thursday, July 16 on Saipan at the Kagman Agricultural Station; Fri, July 17 at the Sunset Villa building on Rota; and Sat, July 18 on Tinian at the DPW fenced area.
