The rain didn’t stop any of the fun as the kids learned new games and made new friends.
Early on Monday morning, two school buses loaded with students from the mid- to the southern parts of the island were transported to the Yap Sports Complex where they are now participating in a week of learning and fun activities with camp staff and volunteers.
Around 100 students were expected to take part this week, but only over 70 showed up on Monday morning.
Throughout the three weeks, however, well over 200 students are expected to participate.
Red flag raised at 2 Rota sites
(DEQ) — The Division of Environmental Quality says water samples collected from Coral Garden and Mobil Storm Drain on Rota contained excessive concentrations of fecal indicator bacteria — enterococci — that exceeded the CNMI’s marine water quality standards.
These bacteria can indicate the presence of human and animal waste in the water.
To adequately address public health concerns, DEQ has given these locations a red flag and advises the public not to fish or swim within 300 feet of these locations for the next 48 hours or until otherwise notified.
