Arrested detective to appear in court today

“He is a positive, upbeat person,” his attorney David Banes said.

Banes said he will argue for his client’s bail since the basis of the detective’s arrest were “allegations.”

Banes said Leon Guerrero was placed under solitary confinement for his client’s safety, isolating him from the rest of the Department of Corrections’ inmates and detainees.

On Monday, Leon Guerrero was arrested on the charge that he was receiving money from drivers of illegal taxicabs.

After the case was unsealed on Tuesday, U.S. District for the NMI Chief Judge Alex R. Munson denied bail without prejudice for Leon Guerrero and remanded him to the custody of the U.S. Marshal Service.

Munson also set Leon Guerrero’s preliminary examination hearing for Nov. 25.
