B-52 fly-by part of Veterans Day celebration

Coleman did not disclose how many planes will be joining the fly-by but it will be held during the Veterans Day ceremony at the Court of Honor of American Memorial Park at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11.

Coleman is inviting all the veterans, active and reserve military members, their families, the families of the departed veterans, the local Marine Scouts and the other members of the community to join the ceremony.

“The ceremony is to give thanks to those who have served freedom’s cause. We salute the members of our armed forces who are confronting our adversaries abroad, and we honor the men and women who left America’s shores but did not live to be thanked as veterans. Our country will always remember them,” Coleman said.

The keynote speaker  will be Col. Dan Settergren, commander of the 36th Contingency Response Group at the Andersen Air Force Base on Guam.

Gov. Benigno R. Fitial will sign the Veterans Day proclamation on Nov. 9 at 11 a.m.

During the ceremony, the governor will present medallions to veterans and take part in the laying of the wreath.

The Pacific Winds Concert Band will play the national and CNMI anthems.
