GOVERNOR Juan N. Babauta yesterday donated $7,081.32 of “leftover” money from his gubernatorial inauguration funds to the CHC Volunteers.
The governor and acting Marianas Visitors Authority Managing Director Vicky I. Benavente, the wife of Lt. Gov. Diego T. Benavente, handed the check to CHC Volunteers President Kim Prinz during a brief ceremony yesterday at the Department of Public Health.
“This money originally came from the private sector that donated to the inauguration committee for various expenses. We have decided to give the leftover money to the CHC Volunteers who have been very active in helping the community,” Babauta told Variety.
The Korean Association of Saipan also donated $973.70 to the CHC Volunteers.
Kim Kyo Nam, association president, handed the check to Prinz.
Prinz, in a separate interview, said the CHC Volunteers will use the money to purchase medical equipment.
