GOVERNOR Juan N. Babauta will update U.S. lawmakers this week on the labor and immigration reforms that the CNMI government has implemented.
“ The governor has prepared an extensive report which demonstrates our commitment in making the Department of Labor and Immigration a top department in the commonwealth,” his senior policy advisor Robert Schwalbach told Variety yesterday.
Babauta left on Thursday to attend the June 23-25 Western Governors Association Conference in Arizona.
When he was in Washington, D.C. in February, he promised to update U.S. lawmakers on the reforms the commonwealth government would implement.
In his meeting with the U.S. lawmakers this week, Babauta will also seek more funding for the CNMI’s capital improvement projects in the fiscal year 2003 budget proposal of the Bush administration.
