A former Republican, Ada is now the Department of Public Lands’ planning division chief, and is a supporter of the ruling Covenant Party.
He said in an interview that he was planning to seek the Covenant Party’s mayoral nomination.
But yesterday, he learned that his bankruptcy notice was issued by federal court.
Ada declined to discuss his bankruptcy, but added that as a candidate for mayor, his issues would have included the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. and the Retirement Fund.
Ada said he was also appointed chairman of this year’s Liberation Day, but he had to turn it down because of his bankruptcy case.
“I cannot do anything when I’m facing a problem like this,” he said.
But Ada said he is ready to meet the challenge.
“Now, I’m taking life one-day at a time,” he added.
After winning a House seat in 2003 and securing a second term in 2005 as a Republican, Ada aligned with the Covenant Party and lost his reelection bid in 2007.
A few months ago, Gov. Benigno R. Fitial appointed him to his current position at DPL, along with another former Republican House member, Candido B. Taman, who also wants to run for mayor as the Covenant Party’s candidate.
