The Department of Public Works is proposing to construct a roundabout in Garapan to replace the current three-way intersection near American Memorial Park.
THE Department of Public Works’ A&E Facilities Branch Manager Chrystal Deleon Guerrero told the business community that Phase 2 of the Beach Road construction project could be completed in December of this year.
Phase 2 of the project runs from Chalan Piao to Atkins Kroll Toyota.
Deleon Guerrero also mentioned a proposal to create a roundabout to replace the three-way intersection near American Memorial Park and the Garapan fire station.
She said the project, which aims to connect Beach Road and Route 38, would involve an 18.5-foot-wide road with 100 feet outside diameter and 55 feet inside diameter.
Deleon Guerrero was DPW’s representative to the Saipan Chamber of Commerce’s 2nd Economic Forum at the Saipan World Resort on Thursday, May 16. The event, which discussed the state of the local economy and its future, gathered various members of the private and public sectors.
Variety files from 2023 to date recorded numerous proposed deadlines for the Beach Road improvement project. Most recently in mid-April, DPW Secretary Ray Yumul said the project could be completed in October.
Aside from the Beach Road improvement project, Deleon Guerrero also mentioned the deadlines for other road projects: Oct. 28 for the completion of the Managaha pier, and April 7, 2025 for the completion of the Route 302 Naftan Road improvement project.
