Innovative Readiness Training officer-in-charge Capt. Anita M. Kobuszewski told yesterday’s Rotary Club meeting at the Hyatt Regency Saipan that next year, they will send a bigger group of medical experts to address the medical and dental needs of Saipan, Tinian and Rota.
“This is the team’s maiden voyage to the CNMI and we are testing the waters to see how things work,” she said.
The team aims to “serve the underserved” — people who don’t have health insurance.
She said this year’s team was composed of 37 medical and dental experts from the U.S. Navy and Marines’ 4th Medical Battalion and the 4th Dental Battalion based in Georgia.
The military medical mission was held on Aug. 10-14, and from Aug. 17 until Aug. 21.
Last Saturday, Kobuszewski said each of the three venues at the CHC, Kagman High School and American Memorial Park drew over a hundred patients.
Since the medical group opened on Aug. 10, they have served over 1,500 medical and dental patients.
