Binadus hold Health and Cultural Festival

It was a great event for the whole family to go out and enjoy cultural performances and try out new, healthy foods.

“It’s an opportunity for everyone to come together and celebrate the successes of the year,” school principal Charlotte Camacho told Variety.

“An important component of our school that we want to incorporate is healthy lifestyles so we have booths with healthy food. Another component is culture; the festival is cultural in the sense that we are a diverse community, so we want to learn about and embrace all of the cultures,” she said.

“It is an opportunity to bring in parents to come together to celebrate as well.”

Ralph Mafnas, vice president of the school’s Parent Teacher Association said, “We are hoping to keep the event alive for a long time. [The Public School System] has been restrictive with school activities but the PTA has been trying to keep it going for the kids. It’s a time for kids, friends, and the whole family to come together for a day of fun.”

New additions to the traditional festival include the “Binadu Idol” and “Dancing with the Binadu” competitions.

The winners for Binadu Idol were: Angelika Narvaez, 1st place; VLT Girls — Veronica Tudela, Leisha Sally, and Trinity Cruz, 2nd place; and Ryan Gabule, 3rd place.

As for Dancing with the Binadu, GTC came in first place while Koblerville Elementary School claimed second and San Antonio Elementary School received third prize.
