JAKARTA (PINA) — Rescuers have located bodies near the wreckage of a Trigana Air Service plane in West Papua, but were unable to airlift them out due to harsh weather, the Jakarta Post reported.
The light aircraft, which was reportedly carrying five people, went missing on Saturday after its takeoff from Nabire during heavy rain.
The five people on board were the pilot, co-pilot, a mechanic and two passengers—a mother and her daughter.
The plane’s pilot, Dwi Arif Ardianto, is the son of senior Kompas daily newspaper journalist and transportation expert Moch. S. Hendrowijono.
Reports from West Papua said all passengers were feared dead as the plane was completely destroyed, the Jakarta Post said.
