Book on NMI Museum moving forward

The book, which is targeted to be distributed before the new school year starts, includes stories and illustrations of what the students saw in each section of the galleries.

Today, six students from Tanapag Elementary School will work on the Japanese period exhibits.

The group, composed of fourth graders Rinisa Torres and Magdalena M. Lieto, fifth graders Andrea Camacho and Juan Elisari Quitugua Jr., and sixth graders Kadi Yamada Camacho and Kayleen Magofna, started working on the German period exhibits yesterday.

Kadi Camacho told the Variety that he is very excited to see his drawings in the upcoming book.

“It’s fun and cool to work on something like this for a book,” he said. His father Fred Camacho acted as the group’s chaperone.

San Vicente Elementary School students started the work on Jan. 22 by covering the Japanese era and sections at the front and back of the museum.

Last week, students of Gregorio T. Camacho Elementary School worked on the Spanish and Carolinian period exhibits.

Young Writers Workshop coordinator Katharyn Tuten-Puckett said  only the sections on World War II and the Post-War are left but they have yet to get confirmation from the school that will be doing the work.

CNMI Museum executive director Robert Hunter said  after all the materials have been collected, the actual work to produce the book will follow.
