THE Boonie Babies and Saipan Cares for Animals are collaborating to host Booze for Boonies, a fundraising event, on Feb. 23 at Tapped Out in Garapan, Boonie Babies co-founder Aria Keilbach said.

Proceeds from the event will “support providing access to low-cost spay and neuter services,” Keilbach added.

Booze for Boonies begins at 6 p.m. Tickets are $50, which include dinner buffet and a drink, and can be purchased at The Shack or Tapped Out.

Tapped Out is catering for the event. Raffle tickets will be available for purchase to assist with the fundraising efforts.

“Unfortunately the cost of surgery, especially if you have multiple animals, is something that deters a lot of people,” Keilbach said. “We want to change that and look forward to having fun making a difference with our community on Feb. 23 at Tapped Out,”  she added.

Keilbach said spay and neuter surgery helps improve the life of a pet cat or dog, and helps curb the island’s stray animal population.

As for Booze for Boonies, Keilbach noted that it will be the first time a Boonie Babies event will have no boonie dogs on site.

“We want to be able to focus on the humans and enjoy a night out without the ‘kids,’ ” she said.
