Brand new car sales for July up by 51 %

 

A total of 65 vehicles were sold last month, while only 43 cars were sold in July last year.

July 2008 sales figures showed that 37 cars, six trucks, 11 vans, and 11 sports utility vehicles were sold.

Microl Corp. maintained the lead in the car sales with 34 units sold claiming a 52.31 percent market share.

Joeten Motors follows with 20 units sold, claiming a market share of 30.77 percent.

Triple “J” Motors sold 11 units for the month, accounting for 16.92 percent market share.    

Toyota still leads with 32 units sold last month.

Ford and Mazda follow which sold eight units each, Nissan and Honda are next which sold five units each.

The report also showed that two units each of Hyundai, Kia and Chevrolet were sold.

From January to July this year, the three auto dealers sold a total of 410 brand new units, 229 of which were cars, 43 trucks, 39 vans, 93 SUVs, and six other units.  

This figure shows a 7.61 percent increase from the total sales for the same period in 2007, which only posted sales of 381 brand new vehicles.  

Joeten Motors is the island’s distributor of Nissan, Ford, Honda and Kia. Microl Corp. is the distributor for Toyota and Chevrolet while Triple “J” Motors distributes Hyundai, Mitsubishi, Isuzu, Suzuki, Subaru, and Mazda.

The three auto dealers sold 27 used cars last month.

Microl Corp. also sold the highest number of used cars, posting 15 units and claiming a 55.6 percent market share.

Triple “J” Motors comes next with seven units sold, claiming a 25.9 percent share in the market.

Joeten Motors comes in third with five units sold  for an 18.5 percent market share.
