Last month, the island’s three car dealers — Joeten Motors, Microl Corp. and Triple “J” Motors — sold a total of 48 brand new cars. Only 36 units were sold during the same month last year.
July 2010’s brand new car sales included 20 sedans, 7 trucks, 5 vans and 16 sport utility vehicles.
Toyota remains as the brand of choice among customers, selling 16 brand new units for the month. Sales for Mazda picked up, totaling 10 units, followed by Honda with 6, Nissan and Kia with 5 units each, Hyundai with 4, and Ford and Suzuki with 1 each.
Joeten Motors topped last month’s brand new car sales with 17 units. Microl Corp. and Triple “J” followed closely with 16 and 15 units sold.
The three dealers sold a total of 358 brand new cars from January to July this year, including 166 sedans, 58 trucks, 16 vans and 118 sport utility vehicles.
Sales for the first seven months of 2010 indicated a 54.31 percent increase compared to last year’s sales for the same period, which posted only 232 brand new units.
CADA’s reports showed that except for the sales in June, sales from January to July this year increased from 80 to 103 percent.
The three car dealers sold a total of 29 used cars last month, bringing to 170 the total used cars they sold from January to July this year.
Microl Corp. sold 14 used cars last month. Joeten Motors sold 8, while Triple “J” sold 7.
Joeten Motors distributes Nissan, Ford, Honda and Kia. Microl Corp. sells Toyota and Chevrolet while Triple “J” Motors is the local dealer of Hyundai, Mitsubishi, Isuzu, Suzuki and Mazda.
