Bridge Capital donates $31.5K to schools, community groups

SEVEN community groups and two public schools received donations yesterday from a financial

lending firm as part of its annual commitment to support charitable and worthy projects in the CNMI.

John K. Baldwin and Shawn Scott, owners and founders of Bridge Capital LCC, said the donation is their way of helping the CNMI.

“There’s a lot of need and as a company policy, we give away part of what we make. Because this is our home, part of it should go here,” said Baldwin.

Bridge Capital, which used to be based in the U.S. Virgin Islands, is an international investment banking firm which specializes in giving commercial loans from $1 million up to $100 million for large ventures.

The firm committed to donate at least $50,000 annually to different charitable projects and groups.

Last June, the firm donated $17,500 to different groups.

This time, nine groups will benefit from the latest donation amounting to $31,500 — Marianas High School, which is in need of a new air-conditioning unit for its gymnasium; Oleai Elementary School which needs more books and school supplies; the San Jose Parish Council which hopes to get a new sound system; the Autism Society

of the CNMI; the First Lady’s Vision which is involved in different community projects; the Northern Marianas College Nursing Club; the Friends of the Arts; PAWS; and the Humanities Council.

Along with Gov. Benigno R. Fitial, Baldwin and Scott personally turned over their firm’s check donation to the beneficiaries at a ceremony held yesterday late afternoon at the administration building.

Representatives of the beneficiaries

thanked the governor and Bridge Capital for supporting their projects.
